Five London Holiday Lights To Get You In The Christmas Spirit
Back in the states, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas was spent going to the tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree, baking pies and decorating sugar cookies, hanging the stockings above the fireplace and with all that—and most importantly—spending time with family and friends. While we will be with our loved ones during Christmas, for the most part this holiday season we have been a whole ocean apart forcing us to create our own holiday traditions with one another here in London. I must admit though, this is not the worst place in the world to be during the holidays. London (and Europe in general) seem to be doing this whole holiday thing just right. It looks like just about everyone is in the holiday spirit with holiday markets all around, restaurants and pubs putting out their holiday menus, and neighborhoods stringing the lights and putting up their trees. It is a magical time to be in the city, that's for sure!
One of my favorite things we have done this month to help bring new holiday traditions into our London life was grabbing a bite to eat this past Saturday (shout out to Homeslice Pizza!) and then ending the evening with a stroll around different parts of the city to see some Christmas lights. While we sure did not see ALL of them, here are five of our favorites from what we did see and recommend seeing if you find yourself in London between now and the beginning of January.
1. Oxford Street
2. Carnaby Street
3. Covent Garden
4. Seven Dials
5. Camden passage, islington
